Conflicts of Interest

Preserving American Freedom > Restoring Integrity to Our Elections > Conflicts of Interest
We support limitations on elected or appointed officials' ability to regulate or vote on issues in the midst of a conflict of interest. We oppose such officials representing paying clients, other than the body to which they were elected, before any government agency. We support all legislation prohibiting influencing or voting of any elected official or appointee where a conflict of interest exists. No such official should represent paying clients before a state agency.

"Influence" is far too vague in this plank, and it can be proper for a knolwedgable party to advise on an issue even when ineligible to vote on it. Reworded to make more specific. Also, statute is not necessarily the best way to enact this.
