Public schools should be required to obtain written parental consent for student participation in any test or questionnaire that surveys beliefs, feelings, or opinions in the areas of sexual activity, drug and alcohol use, religion, political persuasion, or other areas of morality.

Tuition deregulation should not preclude the main mission of public colleges and universities: providing affordable, quality higher education to Texas residents. We support a system of accountability in Texas Public universities. We support binding audits by the State Comptroller of all public universities and a complete review of the tuition deregulation law for the purpose of validating whether it is accomplishing its stated goal.
Reason:

The auditing provision is inappropriate in this education section: strong auditing can benefit all Texas agencies and should not just be directed at public universities.
